You printed 500 flyers. You spent a Saturday putting them on doors. You got two calls, and one was a guy asking if you also do pools.

Flyers can absolutely work for lawn care. The ones that work are simple, specific, and make calling you the easiest thing to do.

> **Short on time?** Want a business number on your flyers that rings your cell, with the greeting recorded for you? [See how](#done-for-you)

## What makes a lawn care flyer work

People look at a flyer for a couple of seconds before it hits the recycling. In that time they need to know:

1. **What you do.** “Weekly mowing” is clearer than “Property solutions.”
2. **That you work in their neighborhood.**
3. **How to reach you.** A big, easy-to-read phone number.

Everything else is extra.

## What to put on it

- **A clear headline** (ideas below)
- **Your services,** three to five max
- **Your service area:** “Serving Oak Hill and Westbrook”
- **Your business name and logo** if you have one
- **A big phone number** and “Call or text”
- **One reason to choose you:** reliable, family-owned, insured, same crew every week
- **A reason to act now,** like a seasonal start date or “Spots open for spring”

If you include an offer, keep it honest and simple.

## Headline ideas

> “Weekly Lawn Mowing in \[Neighborhood\]. Same Day, Same Crew, Every Week.”

> “Get Your Weekends Back. We’ll Handle the Lawn.”

> “Spring Cleanup Spots Are Filling Up in \[Neighborhood\]”

> “Reliable Lawn Care From a Neighbor. Call or Text for a Free Quote.”

## Copy-and-paste flyer text

> “\[Business Name\] Lawn Care. Weekly and every-other-week mowing, edging, trimming, and cleanup for homes in \[Neighborhood\]. Family-owned and insured. We show up when we say we will. Call or text \[business number\] for a free quote.”

Only say “insured” or “family-owned” if it’s true. Swap in whatever actually sets you apart.

For fall:

> “Leaves piling up? \[Business Name\] does fall cleanups, leaf removal, and winter prep in \[Neighborhood\]. Call or text \[business number\] to get on the schedule.”

## Simple design tips

- **One big headline,** readable from a few feet away.
- **A real photo** of a lawn you’ve done beats clip art.
- **Lots of white space.** Crowded flyers get skipped.
- **Phone number in big type,** at least twice as big as the body text.
- **Free templates** from design sites are a fine starting point. Swap in your own photo and words.

## Where to hand them out

- **Neighborhoods where you already mow.** Neighbors see your work, and you’re already driving there. This tends to work better than random streets.
- **Door hangers** instead of mailboxes. In the U.S., mailboxes are for postage-paid mail only, and [USPS rules](https://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/508.htm) bar putting unstamped items in or on them. Use the door or a door hanger.
- **Community boards** at hardware stores, coffee shops, and libraries.
- **Your Google profile.** Flyer readers often look you up before calling. Make sure your [Google Business Profile](https://gbpn.com/blog/google-business-profile-setup/) and [reviews](https://gbpn.com/blog/how-to-get-more-google-reviews/) back you up.
- **Leave-behinds** after every job: “Your neighbor at \[address\] uses us.”

Check your town’s rules on door-to-door flyers. Some HOAs and towns restrict them.

## Mistakes that kill flyers

- **Too many services.** Mowing, plowing, gutters, pressure washing, and junk removal on one flyer looks like nobody’s an expert.
- **Tiny phone number.**
- **No service area.**
- **Your personal cell.** Once it’s on 500 doors, it’s out there for good.
- **Not answering.** The flyer worked, they called, and they got a full voicemail box. This one hurts the most.

## Be ready when they call

Flyer calls come when you’re on the mower. Most people won’t wait. If they get a clear business greeting, they’ll leave a message. If they get “the mailbox is full,” they call the next flyer.

Need a greeting? Here’s one for lawn care, from our [voicemail greeting examples](https://gbpn.com/blog/business-voicemail-greeting-examples/):

> “Hey, you’ve got Greenway Lawn Care. Leave your name, number, and address, and tell us if it’s mowing, cleanup, or a bigger project. We’ll call you back with a quote.”

## Put a business number on your flyers

With **GBPN**, you get a separate business number that rings the cell you already carry, for **$30 a month total, taxes and fees included.**

- **Business calls announce themselves,** so you know a flyer call from a family call.
- **We record your business greeting for you.**
- **Voicemail to email as text,** so you can read messages between yards.
- **Business hours,** so after-hours calls go to voicemail when you’re done for the day.

A real person sets it up with you. **30-day money-back guarantee.**

## FAQ

**Do lawn care flyers still work?** They can, especially in neighborhoods where you already work. Keep them simple, local, and easy to act on.

**What should a lawn care flyer say?** What you do, where you work, one reason to choose you, and a big phone number.

**Can I put flyers in mailboxes?** No. In the U.S., mailboxes are for postal mail only. Use door hangers instead.

**How many flyers should I print?** Start small, a few hundred in neighborhoods you already serve, and see what comes back before printing more.

**Should I put prices on my flyer?** Optional. A “starting at” price can help, but lawns vary, so many owners just offer a free quote.
