# GBPN vs Grasshopper

Grasshopper and GBPN are closer than most: both are flat-priced, both ring your real cell phone, and Grasshopper advertises 24/7 support, which beats our weekday hours. The differences are in the add-ons, the fees, and what happens to your recordings and texts.

We’re GBPN, so we’re not neutral. That’s why every fact about Grasshopper on this page links to its source: their own website, their help center, their terms of service, their status page, or public reviews. Checked October 3, 2026, at monthly prices.

Apples to apples, for 3 people

GBPN

Grasshopper Solo Plus

a month, plus taxes and feesIncludes $9 call blasting and $1.50 texting fee

Solo Plus is Grasshopper’s plan for a team sharing one number. Ringing everyone at once costs $9 a month more, and texting adds $1.50 a month. GBPN includes both.

GBPN

$30

a month, whole team. Taxes and fees included.

Grasshopper Solo Plus

$42.50

a month: $32 plan + $9 call blasting + $1.50 texting fee. Plus taxes and fees.

Grasshopper costs $12.50 more a month. That’s $150 a year.

Grasshopper adds sales tax and telecom taxes and surcharges, plus $19.50 once to register for texting.

Why this plan

- •Solo Plus or higher for more than one person, ringing everyone at once, a phone menu, call recording, and AI call summaries.

No Grasshopper plan has

Only with GBPN

- ✓Keep call recordings past 30 days.Grasshopper deletes call recordings after 30 days.
- ✓Export your text conversations.Grasshopper says “You cannot download or export text messages.”

GBPN doesn’t do

If you need these, Grasshopper may be the better fit. We’d rather tell you now.

Grasshopper prices are its monthly-billing prices from its pricing page, checked October 3, 2026.

On top of Grasshopper’s plan price

- +Sales tax and federal, state, and local telecom taxes and surcharges
- +Ring every phone at once (“call blasting”): $9 a month
- +Texting registration: $19.50 one time, plus $1.50 a month
- +Extra numbers: $10 a month each; extra extensions on Solo Plus: $5 a month each
- +International calls: per minute, only after 60 days as a customer

With GBPN

- $30 a month is the whole price: taxes and fees included.
- No per-person pricing. Add your whole team to one number.
- We don’t add carrier registration fees for texting to your bill.

Grasshopper prices are flat per plan, billed monthly. Annual billing is lower ($14, $25, and $55 a month) but is paid a year up front, and GoTo’s terms say payments are non-refundable.

The real team price

### Ringing your whole team at once is an add-on.

Grasshopper sells Solo Plus as the plan for “sharing a single inbox among your whole team.” But ringing several phones at the same time is a separate feature called call blasting, and Grasshopper says it “is a paid add-on feature to your account.” It’s $9 a month.

Texting adds $19.50 to register and $1.50 every month. Sales tax and telecom surcharges come on top. So a team on Solo Plus pays $42.50 a month before taxes, not $32.

With GBPN

GBPN rings everyone’s cell phone and app at once, with texting, taxes, and fees included, for $30 a month.

Your history

### Your recordings and texts are your business records.

Grasshopper’s help center says call recordings “will be stored for 30 days and then automatically deleted.” A dispute, a warranty question, or a job you quoted six weeks ago won’t have a recording anymore.

Texts are harder to keep too. Grasshopper says “You cannot download or export text messages,” and “All SMS history is deleted when you port your number to another service.” If you ever leave, years of customer conversations stay behind.

With GBPN

GBPN keeps your call recordings until you delete them. You can download any recording, export a call with its transcript, and export whole conversations.

The fine print

### A 7-day guarantee on the page. “Non-refundable” in the terms.

Grasshopper’s pricing page says it’s “Backed by a 7-day money-back guarantee.” The terms of service from GoTo, Grasshopper’s parent company, say payments are “final and non-refundable,” except where the terms or service descriptions allow.

Those terms renew plans automatically unless you give notice “at least 30 days before the current term expires.” If you leave early without cause, the remaining fees for the term “become immediately due and payable.” That matters most on a yearly plan, which is how Grasshopper’s lowest prices are sold.

With GBPN

GBPN has no contract. You get a 30-day money-back guarantee, and you can browse numbers before you pay anything.

> “Except as set forth in Section 3.3 below or in the Service Descriptions, any and all payments you make to us for access to the Services are final and non-refundable.”

Getting texting working

### Registration fees, and no texting during the trial.

You can’t text during Grasshopper’s free trial: “you must purchase Grasshopper before starting SMS registration,” and carriers then take 3 to 10 business days. Owners describe paying again each time a registration is rejected.

With GBPN

GBPN walks you through registration, AI drafts the description from your website, and we don’t add registration fees to your bill.

Who you’re buying from

### Grasshopper’s owner is backed by private equity, with a CCC+ credit rating.

Citrix bought Grasshopper in 2015, and it moved to LogMeIn, now called GoTo, in 2017. In 2020, private equity firms Francisco Partners and Evergreen Coast Capital, an affiliate of Elliott Management, took LogMeIn private in a deal valued at about $4.3 billion.

In December 2023, Fitch downgraded GoTo’s credit rating to CCC+. In February 2024, GoTo completed a private debt exchange with its lenders, who put in $100 million and got stronger security.

Our read: _A heavily indebted owner has to squeeze cash out of its products. Add-ons, surcharges, and prepaid years with no refunds are how that shows up on a small business’s bill._

With GBPN

GBPN is family owned by Eric and Kaitlin Turner, self-funded since 2017, with no investors and no lenders to answer to.

Most Grasshopper reviews are positive, and plenty of customers love the app. The themes below come from the rest.

### Prepaid years and refunds

The lowest prices are annual, and reviewers who leave early say they get nothing back.

### To be fair

- •Grasshopper’s apps are well rated: 4.7 on the App Store and 4.4 on Google Play. Many long-time customers are happy with it.
- •Grasshopper replies to most negative reviews on Trustpilot.
- •Its status page shows no calling outage in the last 12 months, and GoTo says its 2022 security incident had no impact on Grasshopper.

Don’t take our word for it.

Switching

## Moving from Grasshopper to GBPN

Keep your Grasshopper number. We move it to GBPN for free, usually in 7 to 10 business days, and calls keep working the whole time. Grasshopper deletes your text history when the number moves, so save anything you need first.

[How keeping your number works](https://gbpn.com/phone-number-porting)

## GBPN vs Grasshopper questions

Is GBPN cheaper than Grasshopper?

For a team, yes. Grasshopper Solo Plus is $32 a month, ringing everyone at once is a $9 add-on, and texting adds $1.50 a month, plus sales tax and telecom surcharges: $42.50 before taxes. GBPN is $30 with all of that included. For one person, Grasshopper True Solo is $18 a month plus taxes and fees, but it has no call recording or phone menu.

Does Grasshopper ring all my phones at once?

Only with call blasting, which Grasshopper says “is a paid add-on feature to your account.” It costs $9 a month. GBPN rings everyone’s phone at once as part of the $30.

Does Grasshopper keep call recordings?

For 30 days. Grasshopper’s help center says recordings “will be stored for 30 days and then automatically deleted.” GBPN keeps recordings until you delete them.

Can I export my texts from Grasshopper?

No. Grasshopper says “You cannot download or export text messages,” and that all text history is deleted when you move your number to another service.

Does Grasshopper have better support than GBPN?

Grasshopper advertises 24/7 support, and GBPN’s phone support is weekdays, 9 AM to 9 PM Pacific. If round-the-clock support matters most, that’s a real point for Grasshopper. GBPN adds free dedicated onboarding with a real person for every customer.

Who owns Grasshopper?

GoTo, formerly LogMeIn, owns Grasshopper. Private equity firms Francisco Partners and Evergreen Coast Capital took LogMeIn private in 2020. GBPN is family owned and self-funded.

Can I move my number from Grasshopper to GBPN?

Yes, for free. It usually takes 7 to 10 business days. Save anything you need from your texts first, because Grasshopper deletes text history when the number moves.

## How we made this page

- We compare monthly-billing prices for everyone, because that’s what you pay if you don’t commit to a year.
- The top of the page compares GBPN with the Grasshopper plan that includes what GBPN includes, not Grasshopper’s cheapest plan.
- Every Grasshopper fact links to its source. Quotes are short and unedited, and we leave out customers’ usernames.
- We say where Grasshopper is better. If you need those things, choose Grasshopper.
- Prices and plans change. See something out of date? Email [support@gbpn.com](mailto:support@gbpn.com) and we’ll fix it.
