Google Voice starts at $0. That’s why everybody tries it.

The price changes fast once you want business features, or more than one person answering. Here’s what it actually costs, from Google’s own pages, checked October 20, 2026.

Why the Google Voice price is confusing

  • Two kinds of plans. Solo plans use a personal Gmail. Team plans need Google Workspace.
  • Per-person pricing. Every person who answers pays.
  • Workspace is billed separately. It’s not included in the Voice price.
  • Promos come and go. Google showed 50% off solo Standard for 6 months when we checked.

Is Google Voice a monthly fee?

Free Google Voice has no fee. Paid plans are monthly: $10 or $20 for one person, or $10 to $30 per user for teams, plus Workspace.

What a team actually pays

Say three people need to answer one business number. Sharing a number needs ring groups, which start on Standard.

  • Voice Standard: $20 x 3 = $60 a month
  • Plus Google Workspace for each of the three. Google listed Business Starter from $7 per user a month with a 1-year commitment. Month to month costs more. (Workspace pricing)
  • Plus taxes and fees.

Want automatic call recording? That’s Premier at $30 per user. We do the full math, plan by plan, in GBPN vs Google Voice.

Other costs to know about:

  • International calls are billed by Google’s rate card.
  • Moving your number out costs $3 to unlock a Google-assigned number. (Port your number)

Is Google Voice 100% free?

The basic plan is. But Google describes it as “for personal, consumer use,” and its policy says a free number can be reclaimed after 3 months without use. (Voice policy)

What are the disadvantages of using Google Voice?

For business: per-person costs for teams, do-it-yourself setup, and personal-use rules on the free plan. We cover the full list in Google Voice for business: pros, cons, and alternatives.

Is Google Voice a red flag?

Not to most customers. They see a phone number. The bigger risk is to you, if a free number gets reclaimed after it’s printed on your truck.

Is there a better option than Google Voice?

Depends on you.

  • One person, lowest price, happy to DIY: Google Voice Starter at $10 is a solid pick.
  • Already on Google Workspace: adding Voice keeps everything in one place.
  • A team sharing one number, or you want it set up for you: a flat-price line usually costs less. Compare more in cheapest business phone number options.

One flat price for the whole team

GBPN is $30 a month total, taxes and fees included. Not per person. Your whole team can share one number at no extra cost.

You get:

  • A real person who sets it up with you. No admin console.
  • A greeting we record for you, with your business name.
  • Rings the cell you already carry.
  • Business calls that announce themselves.
  • Business hours, so after-hours calls go to voicemail.
  • Voicemail to email as text.
  • Every call recorded and transcribed by default. You can turn it off.
  • Keep your Google Voice number. Unlock it with Google and we move it over free.

No contract. 30-day money-back guarantee.
